Craniosacral therapy, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, traditional massage and aromatherapy are combined to individualize your session.  Because the body functions and acts as a unit, sessions often require working areas that are seemingly not associated with a condition.  The therapist, upon assessing your need, will administer the best, most accurately applied bodywork to address your concerns. BODYWORK 101

WHAT IS MASSAGE?
Massage is manipulation of soft tissue (skin, facis, muscle, ligaments, and tendons) in order to restore function and range of motion and to release stress and pain. Swedish massage is the foundation for other types of Western massage, including sports, and deep tissue.  Massage can be applied with the hands, fingers, elbows, forearm, and feet.  Oil or lotion is often used. Massage is done with the person covered by a sheet, a technique called "draping". One part of the body uncovered, massaged, and then covered up before moving on to another part of the body.  A person can lay on their back, front, or side to receive this massage.  Some forms of bodywork, like Craniosacral Therapy, are done fully clothed.  Those with fever, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, jaundice, internal bleeding, acute phlebitis, and thrombosis are not good massage candidates.  NOTIFY THE THERAPIST ABOUT ANY HEALTH CONDITION YOU HAVE so that massage is administered to you in a way that is most beneficial.

BENEFITS OF MASSAGE
-induces general relaxation, -improves circulation and range of motion, -relieves pain and discomfort associated with muscle tension, fractures, sprains, sciatica, and stiff joints, -flushes lactic acid from tissues and replaces it with freshly oxygenated blood, -breaks up scar tissue adhesions and restores flexibility and range of motion.

MY PROFESSIONAL OPINION REGARDING PRESSURE AND "DEEP TISSUE" WORK
The effectiveness of pressure is based on your body's need not the amount of restriction.  For example, an individual my suffer from a frozen shoulder that has been restricted for years, but their body may only NEED a little bit of pressure to alleviate the conditon.  The reason for this is that other things like somato-emotional components, pain tolerance in general, and the body's ability to adapt and overcome all play a part in healing.  It is for this reason that I do not charge more for deep tissue work and for using other massage syles/modalities.  I do not know what the person will need until I get to an area.  And one area may require one things and another area may require something completely different!  During treatment, I will monitor tissue and apply appropriate pressure and massage techniques to release restrictions.  Though deep work does have its place and is administered when needed it is NOT always better or more effective.

Stuffy Ear and Sinus Treatment with Ear Candling

Treatment begins with ear candling in both ears.  The remainder of the treatment is a gentle and soothing craniosacral treatment specifically geared toward the nasal and sinus area.  Work around the chest cavity and inside the mouth might be invloved should it be indicated.  Please allow 10 minutes for each addiional candle.

Candling is painless and relaxing. A beeswax covered muslin cone is gently inserted into the ear and lit at the other end. Smoke is released from unlit end and is believed to be the catalyst in candling, drying out excess moisture in the ear canal, loosening infection and candida behind eardrum, and drawing it out by osmisis and pulling it into the remaining, unburned candle.

Candling may help with chronic headaches or sinus conditions, ear infections, and allergies. Minor hearing loss due to excessive earwax build up might also be helped. It is not beneficial if you have any damage to the eardrum, ear tubes, congenital hearing loss, ankylosis of the stapes, acute mastoiditis, or recent surgical procedures to the ear.  For those who've experienced relief from candling, enough can't be said about its effectiveness!  Suspect an ear infection?  Get a diagnosis.  Ear candling isn't considered a substitute for a doctor's advice.

Ionic Detox Foot Bath

Water with its innate ability to contain and conduct electricity can either be ‘ionized’ (negatively charged and full of energy) or ‘depleted’ (positively charged and empty of energy).  The foot bath is a bioelectrical device that uses electricity and water to energize the body and promote detoxing.  The feet have large pores and points all over that represent all areas of the body. Accomplish a full body detoxification that will leave you feeling alive and leave your feet feeling rejuvenated!

Diseases, bacteria, infection, etc. are associated with positively charged ions.  Immersing in negatively charged water together with the body’s ability to conduct this negative energy creates an unwelcome environment for them.  Fluid systems carry living and dead bacteria, etc. out via the dermal layers of the skin and toward the module.

"I recommend Monica's massage packages.  They are a great way to alleviate chronic issues that occasional treatment cannot adequately address. Monica built on the therapy she'd performed the previous week, thus achieving long term relief..."  Joan (Clermont, FL)

Water Craniosacral Therapy

This amazing treatment is done in the water under the careful hand of at least three therapists and is fantastic for the treatment of old "stuff," whether it is physical or emotional.  As the recipient, you will float on the surface of the water as all three therapists gently support you from underneath.  The treatment lasts for 30 minutes but a recipient will integrate it like it was a 1 1/2 hour treatment due to multiple therapists working at once.  After 30 minutes of this work at a client needs to allow their body time to process and digest the treatment they received.

Clients and therapists wear bathing suits for the treatment and ear plugs might be helpful for some.  Clients need not know how to swim as treatment is carefully administered in shallow water at all times.  Noodles are always available if they are needed.  (Allow 72 hours for scheduling of multiple therapists.)

Kinesiotaping

"I finished the marathon.  The tape really helped.  The swelling in my leg went down too."  Jenny (Miami, FL)

"When I was leaving Florida for the long ride back to Pennsylvania, Monica used kinesiotape on my neck and upper shoulders.  It gave me hours of relief from pain and supported my neck while driving and into the next day and pffering relief from the pain."  Marlene (Swathmore, PA)

"My daughter, a dancer, had a severe sprain in the middle of competition season.  We kinesiotaped in two different times to treat the injury and get her back to her sport quickly.  Initially, it encouraged swelling and bruising which was pooling in her foot up to the lymph nodes in her leg.  We noticed in less than 24 hours a reduction in both and in 72 hours it was dramatically better.  Later the same tape was used to support the injured ligament.  My daughter said it also helped with the pain."  Amazing stuff!  Amanda (Orlando, FL)
